  • What is the difference between a Bruges, Liège, and a Brussels waffle?
A Bruges waffle originates from Bruges, consists of 100% natural ingredients, and represents a healthier version of the Belgian waffle. It is made from fresh, liquid batter, following a unique recipe from our own atelier. The Bruges waffle features a distinctive shape that nods to the typical Bruges lace. It is lightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Unlike the Liège waffle, it is not overloaded with sugar and has a lightly caramelized taste due to the use of natural, unrefined coconut blossom sugar. The Bruges waffle caters to everyone as it is gluten-free and dairy-free, with even a plant-based option available. It is easy to eat on the go and, unlike the Brussels waffle, requires no additional (sweet) garnish. You can only taste a true Bruges waffle at Otto Waffle Atelier in Bruges.
  • Can people with Coeliac disease eat the Bruges waffle?
Yes. Our batter is made from certified gluten-free oats, making it suitable for individuals with gluten intolerances or Coeliac disease.
  • Can people with egg allergies eat the Bruges waffle?
Yes, we can provide a plant-based waffle upon request. However, please note that the waffle is baked in the same iron as the regular waffles, so there may be traces of egg.
  • Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes, you can pick up a gift voucher at our store or get it digitally. For this, please send an email to info@ottowaffleatelier.be
  • Are there sitting places?
No, you can enjoy your waffle inside our shop at standing tables with a beautiful view of the Bruges canals.
  • Can we book a table?
No, since there are no seating options available, tables cannot be reserved.
  • Are there toilets?
No. We do not have toilets available. The nearest public toilets can be found at the Gruuthuse Museum.
  • Do you organize workshops for baking waffles?
No, for practical reasons, we are unable to offer workshops.
